It is taken from Another 365 Days of Poetry , a collection of mixed-genre poetry released in 2019. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Into the Unknown A leap of faith, we called it A leap into the great unknown No one had ever been; no one had ever gone With only theory to put their trust in They breathed their prayers farewelled their loved ones hit the switch and left us staring skywards, all forlorn. How long they would be away we did not know, and no one could say How long they’d be away was anybody’s guess their families wept, and prayed and hoped and in despair their watch was kept and when these journeymen returned they found that hope and anger burned in hearts that had waited while they’d been away and with joy was
