Some things are just not meant to be...or that's the impression Cutter gets as everything that could go wrong starts happening.  The Depredides Dance picks up where the first book in the Mack 'n' Me 'n' Odyssey series leaves off, filling in the gap before the second book in that series. Cutter once again finds herself in hot water, and looking for an escape or rescue, and finding it no longer matters whether Mack catches up with her or not...as long as she survives.
