Babes in London: Hmmm, I’m Glad I’ve Given This More Time…

Image
…because I just might need it. I’ve come across a couple of points that need tweaking. For instance, the Alternate Form power in dragons is limited by levels in that power, which means I need to reword Scene Two in Act One. Also, I’m trying to do the crunchy bits as I go along. More backgrounds, more powers, more… stuff. I knew it was there, but I’d been ignoring it in favour of getting the story ‘done’. Well, that will add a few more words. Now, let me go over the Preparation section, one more time… I’ll put it up, tomorrow. Fireborn: Gamemaster's Handbook Fireborn: Player's Handbook

Babes in London: For Those Who’ve Played The Fire Within

There is an official adventure for the Fireborn setting called The Fire Within . It has been designed for PCs who don’t know of their previous existence as dragons, and contains stat blocks that will be useful for those running Babes in London. You can source it from DriveThruRPG. A Note on Existing Stat Blocks: I will not be reproducing any material that can be found in a published product, as that would be a breach of copyright. You will need the published products to access these. All are available from DriveThruRPG. Fireborn: Player's Handbook Fireborn: Gamemaster's Handbook   Now, that that’s out of the way, here are the notes that might help in incorporating characters who’ve played The Fire Within, and including their past experiences, into this adventure arc. If the PCs have played ‘The Fire Within’ Learning of the Seer of Cathach: If the group has played The Fire Within module, they have heard of the Seer of Cathach...

Babes in London: So, This is the Plan…

Image
If you remember, on April 9, this year, I promised you some words on this project – 10,000 over the first five days of June, to be exact. So, here’s how it’s going to work. I’ve started a day early, because I haven’t laid eyes on this beast for over a month, and I want to do it justice. It will be sharing time with the publishing and editing that has to happen for the rest of the year, but it will be the first thing that gets worked on at writing time each day. I won’t be posting what I write on the day I write it, but I will be re-posting the adventure throughout the month. This is because I’ve changed my mind. I’m not going to stop working on it at the end of 10,000 words; I’m going to finish it during the semester break. I’ll keep posting the adventure in small chunks until you have all of it. It’s going to be interspersed by writing news and other things, but it will be there, and I’ll put a consolidated list of previous links at the end of each day’s instalment. For...

Update: Babes in London – No, I Can’t, But I Will

The Fireborn fan-fic adventure, Babes in London , is progressing, but it’s not going according to play and I’m going to have to rethink my approach. Turns out I can’t do 100 words a day. This is the progress so far, and what I’m going to try and do about it. Progress for Week 1 (February 25 to March 3) was as follows: * find the manuscript; * find the adventure notes, and discover the outline was as complete as I'd hoped—right to the end; * find the rules books; * edit and touch up the Introduction and Overview, adding 220 words; * continue writing, and add a total of 550 words. Progress for Week 2 (March 4 to March 10) was as follows: * go over the outline; * edit and touch up Act I; * edit and touch up Act II, Scenes 1-3, adding 226 words. Progress for Week 3 (March 10 to March 17) was as follows: * Nil, the flu put me in bed for four days, and then I had a house inspection. Progress for Week 4 (March 18 to March 24) was as follows: *...

Progress Report Week 2 April 2012

I’ve been working on the last short story for Anthology2. It’s nearly done, but I was surprised there were over 5,000 words to add for it to reach the point of near completion. I had originally thought it would come in at around 4,000 words. Mind you, that was twelve years ago. It is still moving towards the ending I envisioned then, but there is more story to tell than I realised. I have learned a lot about portraying feelings and character portrayal than I knew back then, so time had to be taken to get the characters right. When I started this story, it was about a battle and an evacuation. What I didn’t realise then was that the battle and the evacuation were secondary to the family conflicts faced by the three main characters involved. This story is much better than it would have been had I finished it in 1999, but it’s time for it to stop haunting me. Current Projects: These are in the current priority order, which represents the order I tackle things in any given day. I u...
