It took me a while to get started on this one, and I'm behind my original writing schedule for it. I forgot balance was important and focused on working in a block. The problem with that is that each block is intensive and I can only sustain the focus for limited amounts of time, which means that I can fit more than one block of focus into a day, but I can't maintain a single block of focus for an entire day - or I can only do that rarely, so this week, I changed my routine. You know? Part of this crazy business is learning what works for you - which is why there is no patented 100%-successful method for earning a living as a writer. I have slowly worked out that I work better in blocks, produce my best words on any single project inside the first 4,000 and then good words for another 2000, have to take downtime away from writing at regular intervals, and need to ensure I have at least 8 hours sleep a night and undertake a minimum of 45 minutes of exercise each day to work well...
