Babes in London: Act Four, Scene 2 (Part 2: The Unicorn Maid and the Lady of the Bower—Aftermath)

Image
AFTERMATH: If the PCs and Anika’s brood drive off the attacking forces, ask them to make an Earth (Senses) Test. For those who make a TH4, read, or paraphrase, the following: As the last creatures flee or fall, you see something gleaming in the grass: metal, reflecting sunlight shining through the canopy. Allow the PCs to examine the item. It’s a small, round disc made of beaten gold, on which is scribed the now familiar symbol of a long, upright shepherd’s crook, standing beside a half oval (flat-side down) above a long narrow rectangle broken by vertical wavy lines (lying lengthwise). It seems a strange alliance, these creatures with an Egyptian god, but things were different in Mythic times. Once the connection has been made, read, or paraphrase the following description. If the PCs do not make the test, incorporate the disc’s description in the description below, but as something they remember finding after the original fight: The disc gleams in your hand...

Babes in London: Act Four, Scene 2 (Part 1: The Unicorn Maid and the Lady of the Bower—The Battle)

Scene 2: The Unicorn Maid and the Lady of the Bower You are needed. Your ally is in danger, and she is somewhere on the plains below, or ahead of you. You need to find her, and find her fast. Allow the players to make Air (Senses) checks to spot the horse and rider ahead of them, then read, or paraphrase, the following: You see her, just before you hear her, her cries urging you to hurry floating on the wind. If you weren’t so familiar with her voice, you might have thought it was birds calling. This time, your ally is dressed as an Erebean warrior maid, and she is pushing her mount at break-neck speed towards the dark line of trees marking the edge of the Arcadian forest. Allow the players to make Air (Senses) checks to hear faint sounds of battle coming from within the forest. If they are successful, they can choose between following Anika into the forest, or travelling with her towards the sound. If they fail, they can follow her, or any brood mates that hurry t...

Babes in London: Act Four, Scene 1B (Part 5: Kew Gardens—Other Options)

Image
If PCs convince Anika and Leyila to go to Leyila’s house (but take Lewistrom home to his parents first): Go to Act 5, Scene 1. If PCs convince Anika and Leyila to go to Leyila’s house (with Lewistrom): Go to Act 5, Scene 2 , and modify it accordingly. Note that Lewistrom’s father is outside Leyila’s house, and will confront them when they arrive. Anika refuses to give the boy up, and an argument ensues, unless the PCs can convince the father to come and talk inside. Both Leyila’s parents and the police, on hearing the commotion, come out to see what is going on. At this stage, Lewistrom’s father insists on calling his wife, and the DI sends a car with the PCs to collect her and Act 5, Scene 1 will play from there. If the PCs have not mentioned the Setites yet: The first time the Setites are mentioned, run the flashback in Act 4, Scene 2 . When this occurs, read, or paraphrase, the following: Setites. At the mention of their name, the world about you shu...

Babes in London: Act Four, Scene 1B (Part 4: Kew Gardens—In Case of DI Mullins)

Image
If PCs call D.I. Mullins: D.I. Mullins arrives in the garden with Leyila’s parents. If the PCs have mentioned Lewistrom Beam being present they arrive with Beam’s father, as well, but have not had time to collect his mother. Modify this scene as necessary. Read, or paraphrase accordingly: Suddenly, Anika’s eyes widen, and she turns towards a point behind you. “They’re coming,” she says, but she does not seem to be afraid. At the same time, your mobile rings, and D.I. Mullins’ number comes up. Give the PC who called the D.I. time to react. The girls won’t hide from Leyila’s parents, or the police, although they are very apprehensive. They seek reassurance from the PCs that they will be safe, and that the PCs will help them find Anika’s parents. The police want to drop Anika home in the care of Leyila’s parents. Upon seeing Lewistrom, if they have not been informed, they insist on dropping him off first. They will also insist on this, if Lewistrom’s father is with the...
