Mack 'n' Me #6 - Writing Update #6

Words from yesterday, which ended up being a short day as my headache worsened into nausea and a head cold or mild flu...or something...at least I know why I was having trouble concentrating. Only 2k done, instead of the usual 6k, but here you go: Words from Day 9 (Chapter 18): Ssesketh pushed himself away from the wall, hissing softly to draw our attention. “Can you tell me why you are dressing as though you need to go to war?” he asked, his crest rippling with what I thought was uncertainty. I looked at Mack, and Mack looked at me, and then we both looked around at our visitors, our gazes passing over a rapidly sobering Tens and Abby, and then moving on to take the two lizardine into account. “You mean we’re not?” I asked, disappointment edging my voice. Mack was more direct. “Why the Hell else would the four of you come unannounced and uninvited into Cutter’s private quarters, unless there was some kind of trouble going down?” From the way he said it, he was telling th

Work continues - and the word count tells me I'm over the half-way mark. The chapter outline, surprisingly, actually agrees, which is a nice change. Yesterday's snippet is as follows: Words from Day 8 (Chapter 17): I let them argue about who got tank time and when, and didn’t really care when I had to spend another two days in the pod. Mack snickered. “Looks like Odyssey have some house cleaning to do.” Laugh all you like, Delight retorted, but keep me in the loop. We’ve lost our trousers and didn’t even know it.” Mack’s laughter died, and I found myself with a temporary link to bot

And from yesterday's (very slow and difficult) words... Words from Day 7 (Chapter 14): The boy really was hurt and it was all my fault. Nope , came Rohan’s denial, but he didn’t argue more than that. I came to my feet with one goal in mind: To keep the bastard busy long enough for Mack and Tens to get the boy out of there…and to get a knife for myself. And since the intruder was the most obvious source of those, he was it…the source…my emergency supply cupboard… The only problem was he was a supply cupboard that fought back. Cool! I stepped around the corner. Cutter! Shut it, Mack. Busy. I’m gonna tan your hide. You and whose army? Me with one arm tied behind my back… I laughed, and the sound became an evil ripple down the corridor. The intruder had already come past Rohan’s crumpled figure halving the distance between me and the door. Metal glittered in both his hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
