Last week, I was still recovering from the flu, but was much improved by Tuesday… which was a good thing, because I had to return to the doctor’s so they could remove the rest of a skin lesion that turned out to be pre-cancerous, and a goodly portion of the area around it. I took it very easy for two-and-a-half days, with minimal walking, and a lot of time resting away from the computer. Thursday, I started to pick up the pace, and Friday was a heavy all-in kinda day. Because I’d been sick and lost a lot of ground, I dedicated the week to making sure I had my publishing up to date, so that I could focus on writing for the three weeks after that. By Friday night, the publishing was caught up, and   number of other administrative tasks also completed. All in all, it was a good week for publishing and administration, a not-so-good week for the writing, and a week where no serious walking at all was done. This year, I have introduced two challenges to give myself some direction in my writing and publishing: The Anthology Challenge , and The Chapter-Book-Collection Challenge . The aim of The Chapter-Book-Collection Challenge is to complete, to pre-release readiness, one collection of chapter books, by the end of 2019, for release each month in 2020. All of these collections will contain previously published work, but, as of the beginning of this challenge, I have not completed any of the proposed collections, and will need to write new material for each. This new work will be released as individual volumes prior to the release of the collection in which it is contained, and some of these volumes will be releasing in 2020. This gives readers the option of buying books singly, as they become available, or as a group. Rules: Each collection must contain at least 4 volumes from each series. Right, I was going to push these through until December 16, but I’m going to call it now. Yes, it is , technically, a challenge fail, but it is also an important point on the learning curve. Put simply: there are other things I want to do. I could push this challenge through, and maybe catch up what I was supposed to have written during the challenge, or I could stop pfaffing about and get on with what I’ve decided I really need to do. I don’t like failing, but I never was one for pfaffing. So, I’m calling it now. Here’s what I achieved in spite of myself.
