WiP: Another 366 Days of Flash Fiction - Modern Tools

Image
One of the pieces flash for the next collection - aka a technological approach to vampire incursions as 55-word microfiction: Modern Tools The vampires came at midnight, when the moon was covered by clouds. Claire watched them arrive and let them enter, then lined them up as they came through the door. The crossbows were deadly when unexpected, but the drone-mounted flamethrowers made her laugh so hard her controller shook. By dawn the vampires were already ash.

WiP Cover Reveal: Two Future Collections

In December 2022, I took delivery of three covers - yes, my cover artist outdid himself, and turned in a couple of covers early, and one very early. The first one, I'd like to keep under wraps a little longer, but the other two are for my next poetry and flash fiction collection, and as I'll be sharing snippets from them, I thought I'd introduce them properly. The first is for Another 366 Days of Flash Fiction , which will be released in December 2023. The images are drawn from some of the stories already written and pulled together into a whole. The second is for Another 366 Days of Poetry , which will release in January 2024, and was inspired by the character from one of the samples I gave as a sample for the work I'd be including.   Cover art and design is by Jake at JCaleb Design.

The Great Publishing Challenge: 6 Down, 6 to Go

This month, I nearly didn't make it. I'd gotten sick, gotten distracted by changes in other things I was doing, gotten a little depressed because things weren't actually working, and was in a bit of an overall funk as I worked out how to change direction and get moving again. At the beginning of November I guesstimated I had around 20,000 words to go on it in the 100 or so pieces of flash I needed to write to finish the book...and then the forward and the author's notes on top of that. I just wanted to give it up...but I didn't. I got to work to see if I really could manage not to fail, this time, and still do a good job. This is the result: Great Publishing Challenge : Milestone 6 Book 6: Another 365 Days of Flash Fiction Due: November 20, 2022 Uploaded On: November 18, 2022 Due for Release On: November 18, 2022 Type: A collection of mixed-genre and cross-genre flash fiction of varying lengths between 6-1000 words Content Breakdown:   total pieces-365: Flash...

An Extract from A Collection of Death & the Undead - Returned from Star Battle

Image
Not everything goes bump in the night. Some glide sorrowfully through castle halls and others stalk the dark, looking for prey. From monsters who died long ago and still walk our world, to creatures who herald death, to those mourning the loss of a king, or grieving a loved one, the short pieces in this collection are themed around death, loss and the undead. NOTE: This collection draws together short pieces from the flash fiction and poetry collections in this series, but includes a number of short stories that can only be found within its covers. Released on October 5, 2022, A Collection of Death and the Undead is the eleventh title in the C.M.'s Collections series. Links to the collection can be found at: https://books2read.com/u/47gVYg . Returned from Star Battle Duty’s done, the stars are won, and I return, but I return alone bearing heavy news for home. Many went. Returned? But one.   To celebrate such victory is hard, when those who won it for the ...
