NEW RELEASE: Memory's Vampire (a dark, urban fantasy, short story)

Not all vampires feed on blood. The ones we hunt take your memories before they take your life—and now they are hunting back. We’ve been compromised, and I don’t know who to trust. That comes later. Right now, I just want to make it back to my body alive. Memory's Vampire is the first short story release for January 2025...and the first release for the year. This dark, urban-fantasy, short story is told by a vampire hunter who finds herself in more trouble than she expected on a routine hunt. Can she survive until the dawn? Just Released: Reluctant Liaison

Image
This is just to let you know that Reluctant Liaison has just released and will return to the usual price of 2.99, shortly. It is available on Smashwords , Amazon , and DriveThruFiction, and is available via Draft2Digital distribution. I woke up in a car—upside down, staring into the faces of a half dozen pixies sitting on a tree branch. To one side, was a cliff face, to the other, sky, and things were starting to shift. Apparently, I’d had an interesting night… if only I could remember what it was, and why I’d run, and why following the pixies scared me almost as much as the idea of staying in the car… In Reluctant Liaison the Paranormal Operations Squad is faced with a dilemma outside their usual remit, when Otherworld and ‘real’ world cultures clash.

Just Released: The Queen's Game

Image
2018's first release is now live. The Queen's Game is now available for order from Smashwords , Amazon, and DrivethruFiction, as well as via Smashwords and Draft2Digital distribution. I'm a little excited, and a little bit nervous about this one as it winds up a couple of years' worth of flash fiction story-line, and looks to be starting a new one. Never get involved with the Otherworld Fey. Take my word for it. I saved the Queen of Summer, and was betrothed to a lord of Winter by way of thanks—and then the human underworld got involved. So what do I do, when every choice is bad? What would you choose: death by troll, or the mercy of an elf?

Just Released: 366 Days of Flash Fiction

Image
Happy to say that this little monster released today, and is now available from Smashwords (in all formats), Amazon (as an ebook and paperback ), DriveThruFiction (PDF), and via Smashwords and Draft2Digital distribution. Inside these covers is a short story for every day of the leap year, some of which tell of the fantastic, others which take us to the stars and a myriad of other worlds, and still others that horrify with creeping tales of the undead. Every story is an exploration of something that might have been and never was, or something that might yet be. Take a break from the world that is, and explore other possibilities.

Flash fiction with these characters can be found in 366 Days of Flash Fiction , which releases at the end of this week.   Never get involved with the Otherworld Fey. Take my word for it. I saved the Queen of Summer, and was betrothed to a lord of Winter by way of thanks—and then the human underworld got involved. So what do I do, when every choice is bad? Just Released: Shades of Memory

Image
I'm pretty excited to announce the release of Shades of Memory , a dark urban fantasy thriller set in Australia's capital city, featuring werewolves, shadow mages, shadow creatures, ancient artifacts, government secrets, and internationals spies and intrigue. It's a new genre for me, and I really enjoyed writing it. I hope you enjoy the story just as much. When Aggie Dormain arrives in Canberra to paint some old diggers, she does not expect to meet an out-of-work archaeologist investigating an alien conspiracy, much less to be pulled into an adventure that would give Indiana Jones a run for his money.

Shades of Memory Now Available on Pre-Order

Image
Yesterday, September's second release, Shades of Memory went up on pre-order at Smashwords and Amazon. This one will also be released as a print-on-demand large-print paperback on CreateSpace. It will be available from all outlets on September 22, 2017. When Aggie Dormain arrives in Canberra to paint some old diggers, she does not expect to meet an out-of-work archaeologist investigating an alien conspiracy, much less to be pulled into an adventure that would give Indiana Jones a run for his money.

New Cover: Shades of Memory

Completed this cover last night. I wanted something more, but this is about the limit of what I can do right now. It suits, although I think it needs a werewolf. Still, it’s welcome, and I’m glad it’s done. When Aggie Dormain arrives in Canberra to paint some old diggers, she does not expect to meet an out-of-work archaeologist investigating an alien conspiracy, much less to be pulled into an adventure that would give Indiana Jones a run for his money.

New Cover: Just a Dinosaur

Image
The cover for, Just a Dinosaur, my third release in June has been approved. I'm a little bit excited and a little bit nervous about this, all at the same time. I've written something contemporary that feels a little bit like horror, and a little bit like urban fantasy, and a little bit like an archaeological adventure story. It's also set in a bush-setting as opposed to an urban environment and, editing it, I thought it touched on some of the stereotypes we see in Australian culture, hopefully both acknowledging and challenging them. It's not what I set out to do on purpose, but something that came through as the story came into being. This tale is due out on June 30.

Writing Life: May’s First Release

Image
Finally, I have also made the first release for May available for pre-order. When the plane carrying P.O.S. Officer Schaeffer goes down, it’s no accident. She and her partner lose the prisoner they’re escorting to trial, and the local elves nearly lose their lives protecting the unicorns and a grove of dryads. With the aircraft and its passengers on the ground, Schaeffer has to secure her prisoner before the woman can create any more mischief—and with dusk closing, the local unicorns seeking vengeance, and the trolls beginning to stir it’s not going to be easy. A Matter of Justice is set in a world where magic has returned, pixie dust is the new drug of choice, and humans live side by side with creatures of legend. With new crimes forming around new resources and new markets, the Paranormal Operations Squad, walks the edge of two worlds, trying to bring justice to both.
