CM Simpson: Writer & Gamer

The start of the year can be bitter sweet, as we move into a new year without some of the people we shared the years previous with...and so we remember them. This poem is the first in the upcoming collection, Another 366 Days of Poetry.   For all those who are dead and gone we remember you, and carry on.   We remember you, who are gone and dead And carry you in our hearts and heads. In our hearts and heads we carry you who have gone ahead, to new lands view.   To new lands view, and new paths create, as you watch for us who walk your wake.

I do not let it succeed, but on some days that is harder to achieve than on others.     The darkness in my heart bleeds softly from my eyes. The words scream from the page, as silent as my cries. My grief, it overwhelms, as does my depression and despair. I no longer have a heart to break, or a soul to care. I am no longer human, just as the humans have decreed.
