CM Simpson: Writer & Gamer

I haven't been very active in any of my social media channels for the last couple of months, so it's probably time for a quick update on where things are at. Firstly the good news regards publishing. I had a short story accepted into the latest volume of The Expanding Universe, Volume 11 . This is a collection of science-fiction exploration where stories consider the idea that we are not alone in the universe, and contemplate what other entities might share our space. Last week was busy as I tried to get myself back on track and incorporate the catch-up with getting the writing back on track. It started out rough, and didn’t really pull together, until I decided to submit some work elsewhere. It’s interesting to find that adding people to the mix adds to the ability to get things done, because you just don’t want to let anyone down. I may need to have a talk with myself about that. I also did a tonne of learning about newsletters and marketing and will be putting some of what I learned into practice over the coming week. Last week, I was still recovering from the flu, but was much improved by Tuesday… which was a good thing, because I had to return to the doctor’s so they could remove the rest of a skin lesion that turned out to be pre-cancerous, and a goodly portion of the area around it. I took it very easy for two-and-a-half days, with minimal walking, and a lot of time resting away from the computer. Thursday, I started to pick up the pace, and Friday was a heavy all-in kinda day. Because I’d been sick and lost a lot of ground, I dedicated the week to making sure I had my publishing up to date, so that I could focus on writing for the three weeks after that. By Friday night, the publishing was caught up, and   number of other administrative tasks also completed. All in all, it was a good week for publishing and administration, a not-so-good week for the writing, and a week where no serious walking at all was done. February saw things get a touch busy, as I worked out this full-time writer thing. March will be busier. The week just gone went well , although it ended with a back injury because I didn't go for proper walks for the duration.
