2022 Poetry Challenge Recommenced: Streak 2, Day 1 Extract

Image
Getting over the covid booster and the flu took a bit longer than anticipated and it's taken me ten days to get back to 2022's Poetry Challenge. You will notice that the poem shown is a number out of a larger number, and that is because I'm sometimes writing more than one poem a day. The extract will always be taken from the first poem of the day so, without further ado, here is the entry from Day 1 of Streak 2 - today. This one was a garland cinquain focused on heroes: Poetry Challenge 2022 Streak 2: Day 1 Streak 1: 17 Days Poem 18/20 -  112 words First 10% (rounded down)   Day 1 ----------------------------- heroes we all walk tall   yet inside our hearts ... -----------------------------     To be published in: Yet Another 365 Days of Poetry

Words from Project 2: A Science Fiction Garland Cinquain

With the move over (bar the unpacking), I'm trying a new work routine (of *course*, I am...), so, if you're wondering what I'm up to, here's one of the verses written for Project 2 (not on the board below). Flight to Freedom Happy the bird did fly, its form concealed by flesh and skin, its feathers well-hid from those who’d harm who’d pluck it clean and cage the little that was left, who’d hang it out for all to see a prize displayed a prisoner. This was the fate it fled in shifted form, with human face aboard a ship to outer space from inner worlds not safe to colonies not yet well known to folk who fled and hid and hoped for better lives they built on worlds yet free from man’s worst tropes distilled (Copyright: C.M. Wednesday’s Verse—Children, Machines, Human

Small, determined bundles of fire, well-kept, learning. Imaginations burn. They watch They watch, absorbing all, both the good and the bad, monitoring their growing world. Learning. Learning and adapting, adopting behaviours, fearlessly copying the grown. Wanting. Wanting to know secrets, the hidden keys to life, wanting to succeed when they’re grown. Machines. Machines, learning machines, computers in their heads processing experiences. Human. Children, absorbing all, adopting behaviours, wanting to succeed when they’re grown.
