This week’s short story takes us from a science fiction crime-fighting adventure to banshees in space. Welcome to Screams for the Dying . People die, when I scream. They were going to die anyway, and their deaths cannot be averted. It makes me afraid to make friends. It makes me happy to work alone. even when I’m part of a team. We are the elite, bounty hunters and protectors, on permanent assignment. And there are times when I get to save a life, and prevent a death, instead of just announcing tragedy. Screams for the Dying is a short story exploring the place of mythical creatures in science fiction. How does one immortal kill another? What interest could a banshee have in a single mortal child and why would they defend them? And why does a banshee scream? I had lived here from childhood to my thirtieth year but, in spite of the wattle dancing on the breeze and the eucalyptus-scented air that brushed across my skin, I knew I no longer belonged. Screams for the Dying has been released on Amazon and Smashwords . Screams for the Dying is a short science fiction story that blends myth, fantasy and science fiction. In the time in which this short story is set, banshees and star ships are real, and so are a lot of other things. It is approximately 2,500 words long and is the fifth and final story in the fourth Simpson Anthology - An Anthology of Worlds - which released mid-September 2012. An Anthology of Worlds has also been released on Amazon and Smashwords . An Anthology of Worlds is just under 20,000 words long and contains 5 short stories and 2 poems to playing with the idea of exploring different worlds, each of which is available individually. Some of these worlds are parallel to our own and others are literally on other planets, but all deal with a reality that's not the same as we know it now.
