Wednesday's Verse - Where Do You Live?

This week’s verse moves from an urban fantasy piece about a pixie's whose trick turns sour to an experimental poem about a chance meeting. It is taken from 366 Days of Poetry, a collection of mixed-genre poetry released in 2016.

Where Do You Live?

“Do you live in the hills?” he said, he did.

“Do you live way up there in the rocks?”

“I live in the hills,” I replied, I did,

“safe in the rocks in the hills.”

“Will you show me where?” he said, he did,

“so that I may come calling there?”

“Why don’t I come see you,” I carefully replied,

“in your home in the valley below?”

“But it is a long way, from your hills and your rocks,” he said, he did, he said,

“and we are both here, by the stream, with our socks.”

I took my washing and fled.
