Wednesday's Verse - The Creepers in the Tunnels Knew

Image
This week’s verse moves from a poem inspired by the global unity that grew out of the Je Suis Charlie terror attack of 2015, to a fantasy poem about an encounter with underground monsters. It is taken from 366 Days of Poetry , a collection of mixed-genre poetry released in 2016. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------   The Creepers in the Tunnels Knew The creepers in the tunnels knew from whence would come the travellers’ doom. They grew along the walls and watched, as the intruders set a fire and cooked what would be their final meal in the dark, where night concealed creatures of more subtlety than the creeper growing free along the arching walls that they had so carefully avoided, when they set up camp. The creepers in the tunnels knew the subtlety’s wherein they grew, and watched with plant’s delight as, from behind each stalactite, the weavers on their ...

Carlie's Chapter 6 - Dear Tiger: Let's Go A-Hunting

Image
LAST WEEK, Simone asked a lot of questions, and was worried about Haskell's attitude being changed by his mutation. This week, Tiger reveals the research-team politics she set in motion by asking that questions, and all the others... and that he's worried about what FedExplore might have in store for her 'sisters'. Chapter 6 (Excerpt) – Redstone & FedExplore Hey, Simone Good to hear from you—and good to hear Odyssey are sending you with a spec ops team, although that’s a worry, as well. It means you are going into danger, and, even if that’s not new for you, it’s new for me, so I’ll have to learn to deal. It also means that you’re going to have to hurry up and work out how to deal with Haskell, because he’s part of Delight’s team, and she’s going to need him. If you’re going to be assigned to a spec ops team, then she’s going to be reassigned to something else, and she’s going to need Haskell with her to do what he does best....

Cover Evolution - A Journey through the Dear Tiger Series

Image
So, it's Friday. I've got the flu and writing is problematic... creative writing with good words, not this kind of report-style writing. This and I need to stay awake to mind the podling so I need something light to do. I was going to update some covers, but when I went to take a look at them, I discovered I'd already done it - so I thought I'd take a moment to look back at the different evolutions these covers had gone through to reach their latest iteration. These latest editions will be going up for pre-order over the next week or so...and I'll be releasing three-book omnibuses of them as well. They'll be released a month apart. with each omnibus being released the month after the final book that will be included in it. Also, I will gradually be removing the chapter content from the Dear Tiger posts , as well, starting from Monday, January 10, 2020... today, so, in future, these will work like my Tuesday Shorts - which are short stories I have on sale t...

Wednesday's Verse - Je Suis Charlie

Image
This week’s verse moves from a cautionary poem celebrating the New Year to a verse inspired by the unity that came out of the Je Suis Charlie terror attacks of 2015. It is taken from 366 Days of Poetry , a collection of mixed-genre poetry released in 2016. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------   Je Suis Charlie Je suis Charlie. Je suis Charlie! Je suis Charlie. And damn the world to hell! We must all unite despite the plight that sent us to our knees. They called for us by name. They called us from our lives. And they murdered us in cold blood because of their souls’ plight. They killed us for what we drew, and all the things we wrote. They killed us in their Allah’s name for the things we said. They claimed we did defame the prophet that they followed, a man that’s long been dead. And they were not the only ones, who cried o...
