Weep for the Willows, Weep
The thin grey leaves of autumn hung like tears, thick thatches of tears, or hair that’s long been matted by grief. I thought of Spanish moss, and remembered that it would not grow here—too cold. Beneath the swathes of grey curtaining, I can see bleached bones carpeting the soil.
The tree cries to me.
Come. Come closer. Help me. Free me from this death.
Well, on that one thing we are agreed. I am here to free it from its death.Similar stories to this can be found in other volumes of C.M.'s Collections and the reading list can be found here on Books2Read at: https://books2read.com/rl/Gw8Oaz, while links to A Collection of Death & the Undead can be found on Books2Read at: https://books2read.com/u/47gVYg
