Kiss and Make Up
Kiss and make up, the counselor said. We’d talked about the way my girl and I had fought. I’d described her love of roses, the way she photographed in the half light of dawn, my ever-present love, and continuing lust.
He saw I’d never gotten over her, and needed direction after the argument we’d had. He’d asked if I still loved her, my summer bride, and when I’d said yes, he’d asked me why. By the time that conversation had passed, I loved her even more.
“Kiss and make up,” he’d said. “It’s the only way.”
