Books Published in 2022 - Writing Completions in Review

In 2022, I published a total of 14 titles. The break-down of those is as follows:

  • 4 new and updated versions of existing titles,
  • 3 novels published for the first time,
  • 5 collections set on a theme that drew from existing collections or out-of-print short stories previously published as stand-alones, but which also consisted of a significant amount of fresh materials written for the theme,
  • 1 novel started, and finished, this year, and
  • 1 new collection, the majority of which was completed this year.

In addition, I ghost-wrote a couple of novels...I forget how many.

The books are, as follows:

January

The Unwilling: in which a werewolf who chooses to bite his friend to save his life, finds himself running from not only Lunar One law, but two angry mega-corps, and a slew of bounty hunters, as he tries to find them refuge. This is the first book in the Strays of Lunar One series.

February

The Unwanted: in which the two werewolves are forced to leave their sanctuary and find a way to survive on their own. This is the second book in the Strays of Lunar One series.

March

366 Days of Flash Fiction: the second edition of an existing collection of flash fiction, re-edited, re-covered, and updated to use US spelling. This is the fourth title in the C.M.'s Collections series.

April

366 Days of Poetry: the second edition of an existing collection of poetry, re-edited, re-covered and updated to US spelling. This is the fifth title in the C.M.'s Collections series.

May

Another 365 Days of Poetry: mostly written prior to 2022, this is the first time this collection has been published. This is the sixth title in the C.M.'s Collections series.

June

Pixie Dust Dreaming: a collection of all the work set in the urban fantasy policing 'Pixie Dust' setting, consisting of all the flash fiction and poetry in existing collections, and all the previously published stand-alone short stories in that setting. This is the seventh title in the C.M.'s Collections series, and was the first title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

July

Tales of Mack 'n' Me: a collection of the existing flash fiction and short stories featuring Mack and Cutter, organized in the chronological order they occur in relation to the novels in the Mack 'n' Me 'n' Odyssey series, this title also contains some previously unpublished work written specifically for it. This is the eighth title in the C.M.'s Collections series and the second title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

August

Tales from Odyssey and Miss Delight: a collection of all the existing flash fiction and short stories featuring the vigilante cruise company, Odyssey, and its agents, with separate sections for its most notorious agents, Delight and Penny Black, this title contains several short stories written specifically for it. This is the  ninth title in the C.M.'s Collections series, and the third title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

A Planet's Ransom:
the second edition of this young adult, science fiction colonization action adventure novel, this book was re-edited, re-covered, and updated to US spelling prior to its re-release. It is the first title in the Ransomeers series.

Dark God Emergent: the second edition of this dark fantasy novel, this book
was revised with an additional 40,000 words, re-titled, re-edited, updated to US spelling, and re-covered before release. It is the first title in the Chronicles of a Dark God series.

A Collection of Lost Ships and Colonies: a collection of the existing flash fiction, poetry, and short stories featuring ships gone astray in space, crash-landed colonies, and anything to do with lost ships or space colonies, this title also features several new short stories written for it alone. This is the ninth title in the C.M.'s Collections series, and the fourth title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

October

A Collection of Death and the Undead: is a collection of the existing flash fiction, poetry and short stories featuring not only zombies, vampires, skeletons and a variety of undead, but also themes of mourning, loss, and, surprisingly, hope. It is the tenth title in the C.M.'s Collections series, and the fifth title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

November

Another 365 Days of Flash Fiction: proved a challenge for me to complete in time to meet my Challenge deadline, but became the thirteenth title for the year. It is a collection of multi-genre and mixed-genre flash fiction ranging from 6-1000 words in length, and the eleventh title in the C.M.'s Collections series. It is also the sixth title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.

December

A Planet's Bounty: was the first title both started and finished this year. It continues the story of our ransomeers, started in A Planet's Ransom, as they work to establish not just their colony, but their relationship with the race that took them from Earth...and also try to find others who were dropped on world, before a hostile faction can eat them. It is the second title in the young adult, science-fiction Ransomeers series, and the seventh title published for Dean Wesley Smith's Great Publishing Challenge.
