2022 Flash Fiction Challenge Extracts: Streak 2, Days 5-10

Despite getting sick from the flu shot, and working through a list of outstandings a mile long, I managed to maintain the flash fiction challenge as well. Not sure how, but I got some interesting pieces out of it, and I welcome each one.

Not much of a welcome, Clayton thought, watching the shuttle pass overhead.

It would have been better if the damned thing had been alone, but it wasn’t. He could see two more beyond it, flying in formation…and he could hear more in the sky he couldn’t see behind his head.

He lay, flat on his back in the grass, exactly where the teleport had dropped him…or rather, five feet...
