Cinnamon and Scarlet

Written on February 2, 2014, as a poetry submission for Interstitial, this poem first appeared as the June 13 entry of 365 Days of Poetry.

Cinnamon and scarlet,

spiced wine and blood,

the warm scent of cloves,

the copper of life given up.

Star-eyed, unseeing,

the pixies they dance,

on fleet wings a-darting,

attack and advance.,
