Progress Report: Week1, December 2017

Last week was a short ‘week’ for me, as I’ve rearranged how I do things regarding weeks. I count the first week of a month as being from the 1st of that month to the first Saturday after that date, inclusive. The last week of a month is from the Sunday before the end of the month to the last day of the month, inclusive. This means my first week of December was exactly two days long.
Friday was a very disrupted day with me dealing with a last-minute school issue, and then putting out small administrative fires as I re-tooled what I need to build into the schedule at the start of each month. Also, I got paid for my writing, which was a very nice curve ball, but still threw me as it’s still a bit of a novelty, albeit one which I’m working towards making a normal thing in the future.
Saturday I had scheduled the start-of-month tasks. The biggest one of these was uploading everything that had been published over the last 12 months to the Australian National Library, which is a legal requirement for writers here according to the Copyright Act. I had let it slide this year as I tried to get my head around university, so I had a bit of catching up to do. 29 titles later, and it’s all caught up, including the next release for this month. I also decided I would enter a competition that I’d forgotten about, and was still undecided over, so I worked through the titles eligible for that, and finalised it, as well. Now, I’m building both those tasks into the start-of-month process, so they never get to be as big, again.
Saturday, also saw me go back to the words I hadn’t gotten written on Friday, and start work on catching up on those, but it was fairly difficult to gain traction, and I was just under 4k short on my projections for the week. It also didn’t help that the story I was working went well-past the projected length and was going to carry into the next week’s writing.

So, this little guy nearly bought it when I caught it eating the still-forming buds on my Robyn grevillea, but then I thought I might like to see which particular butterfly was responsible, so I took some pictures and decided to keep an eye on it, so I knew when it pupated. Same day, but it was one of those cloudy days with variegated light. PokemonGo Tips - Earning the Berry Master Medal

Another relatively easy one to earn, but it takes time. Main tip? Feed Them All. Well, okay, it's a bit more like this: Only the berries you feed to a pokemon in a gym count. You can only feed berries to pokemon in a gym that belongs to your team. You can feed up to a maximum of 10 berries to each pokemon. You can feed any pokemon that belongs to a team member, as well as your own. You can feed your team's pokemon from home, as long as you have a pokemon in the same gym - as last week's post showed. It's interesting, but really annoying if you accidentally feed a golden razzberry to a pokemon in a gym... just sayin'. Sometimes, not having a berry on hand to help catch a pokemon is also annoying - especially when you've just fed all yours to your team's pokemon - so think about that before you go all out stuffing their faces; the medal is pretty, but catching stuff is cool, too. The Great Publishing Challenge: 6 Down, 6 to Go

This month, I nearly didn't make it. I'd gotten sick, gotten distracted by changes in other things I was doing, gotten a little depressed because things weren't actually working, and was in a bit of an overall funk as I worked out how to change direction and get moving again. At the beginning of November I guesstimated I had around 20,000 words to go on it in the 100 or so pieces of flash I needed to write to finish the book...and then the forward and the author's notes on top of that. I just wanted to give it up...but I didn't. I got to work to see if I really could manage not to fail, this time, and still do a good job.
