Words from NaNoWriMo Day 13 - Lunar Wolves Book 1

Food and dominance came interlinked. He should have taken the baking dish with him. He glanced at the replicator and saw it was almost done, and then glanced back to Lewis—just in time to see the man lift the steak from his plate. Seeing he had Oliver’s attention, Lewis hefted the steak, and dropped it into his mouth.

The sheer defiance of it made Oliver want to laugh. Instead, seeing it for the dominance challenge it was, he bounded forward with a roar. Some things had to be taught early and hard—and it didn’t matter how much Lewis was a friend, their relationship needed recalibration.

Lewis’s eyes widened with alarm, and he bolted, Oliver in hot pursuit.

“Drop it!” Oliver ordered, and Lewis put on a spurt of speed.

Oliver changed course and cut the corner his friend was going to have to take. Leaping forward, he slammed into the changeling’s side, knocking him from his feet and pinning him to the floor.

“Drop. It,” he growled, and Lewis eyed him, his jaws clamped firmly around the stolen steak.

Oliver shook him, and rumbled again.
