Oliver gulped. They had, and he hadn’t thought about it. Still, one thought gave him comfort.

“They don’t operate in lupar territory.”

Lewis’s grin grew wider. “We have to get to lupar territory, first, bro.”

Oliver scowled at him. “You’re not making this easy, are you?”

Lewis scowled at him. “I didn’t ask to be bit,” he said, “and I didn’t ask to be your beta.”

He rose out of his seat and Oliver did the same, moving into the center of the room to give himself space to move.

Lewis’s voice rose. “I also didn’t ask to be dragged half-way across the galaxy because you broke a law that didn’t apply to me at the time! It should never have applied to me!”

That last came out as a roar, and Oliver sidestepped the changeling’s clumsy charge, but Lewis was more in control of himself, and avoided the boot Oliver thrust into his path in an attempt to trip him. He was also more in control of his wolf, shifting from human to were even as he turned to swing a fist at Oliver’s head.

Oliver laughed. “I was wondering how to bring up your need for combat training.”

“I. Don’t. Need. Your. Combat. TRAINING!” Lewis roared, taking several clumsy swipes at Oliver’s face.
