Extract: in which Lewis's call hasn't exactly gone according to plan and Oliver gets a better idea of what's coming after them:

“And you are?” Oliver demanded, a second time.

“We are Ravelin X and your DNA profile was not in Xanil’s database.”

“And why do you need us?”

The man’s expression grew secretive. “Why don’t you come in and find out. We could have a fast transport in your location in…”

He looked up, clearly consulting his colleague.

“Twelve to Sixteen hours,” came the reply.

Big Man’s eyebrows rose in askance and Oliver heard cloth slide as Hatchet-Face shrugged.

“It’s the best I can do.”

Oliver glanced over at Lewis and saw his friend had shifted back to human, although his eyes still gleamed amber. The big man turned back to the screen, tapping it to get Oliver’s attention.

“Mr. Landstrom, I am going to assume you’re more of an alpha than we were led to believe—and you will be treated as such when we meet—so I am going to give you two choices. You can be at the main shuttleport to greet us when we arrive and we’ll take you through the conditions of your internship with Ravelin X.”

Lewis’s eyes widened and his face paled.

“What’s Option Two?” Oliver asked
